- if your trying to get someone to do something or think a certain way you have to be confident and persuasive
- make sure that person knows they will get something they actually want from whatever your motivating them to do
- appeal and make sure they know what to expect, no surprises
- detailed instruction
- goals that you mean to achieve short term and long term
- be gentle, no one has a positive reaction to having something forced upon them
- be encouraging
- for some type of common ground of trust
- acknowledge their achievments
- let them express their creativity, no thick boundaries
- constructive criticism is good but don't kill their pride or self-esteem
